I recently commented to a friend that when I came out in the 1980’s, most gay guys were not spending large percentages of their time in the gym in an eternal quest for perfect abs and pecs. The average guy was, for lack of a better word, average. You almost never saw a perfect ab 6-pack, and the typical guy didn’t have huge bulging pecs and biceps. That’s not to say that there weren’t guys that were considered sexy and cute without them. I kinda miss those days before so many guys jumped on the “gym rat” bandwagon. Don’t get me wrong, I love looking at guys who have sculpted perfect bodies, and I’ve featured many of them here on my blog. It’s easy to appreciate their physiques without having anything else to evaluate (e.g. personality, intellect, charm, etc.). Regrettably, when you see many of these guys in person, or try chatting with them online, you quickly observe that they have developed over-sized egos to match their larger-than-average muscles. And so when I come across a guy that is sexy without having the perfect body, it makes me think nostalgically about the 1980’s.
Feast your eyes on Ash Taylor, quite adorable, don’t you think?
